Reivers Joe Miller
Assistant Athletic Trainer

Joe Miller begins his 4th year at Iowa Western Community College as as assistant athletic trainer and adjunct faculty. Miller is responsible for the evaluation, care, and rehabilitation of IWCC athletes as well as teaching classes within the sports medicine program. He oversees the inventory of athletic training room supplies and coordinates all the Impact Concussion Testing. 

Miller, an Iowa Western alum, graduated from South Dakota State University in 2010 and became a certified athletic trainer in 2011. After graduating, Miller spent tow years as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Southwest Minnesota State University  in Marshall, Min., where his primary focus was men's basketball while assisting with football and baseball. In 2012 Miller received his Master of Science degree in education with a emphasis in sports leadership and management.

Prior to being hired at Iowa Western, Miller worked at TRIA Orthopaedic Center in Bloomington, Min., as a physician extender, working primarily with Dr. Joel Boyd, team physician for the Minnesota Vikings, Wild, and Lynx. Originally from Fonda, Iowa, Miller lives in Council Bluffs. 

Reivers Shannon Gehr
Assistant Athletic Trainer

Shannon Gehr begins her seventh year at Iowa Western Community College as an assistant athletic trainer and adjunct faculty member. As a member of the adjunct faculty, she teaches courses within the sports medicine program. Gehr also assists with supervising athletic training students within the sports medicine program at IWCC.

Gehr earned a bachelor’s degree in 2007 from Valparaiso University in exercise science while also being named an academic all-conference athlete for the Crusaders all four years of her swimming career. Gehr went on to graduate with her Master of Arts degree in health, physical education, and recreation with a concentration in athletic training from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 2009. At UNO Gehr was granted the Moe and Irene Mellion Athletic Training Scholarship award for outstanding performance and professional work in the clinical setting, outstanding commitment to the overall care of the student athletes, and outstanding academic performance. Prior to her arrival at Iowa Western, she was the head athletic trainer for the Omaha Beef indoor arena football team. Gehr also served as an assistant athletic trainer at Westside High School in Omaha, Neb. Shannon currently resides in Omaha, Ne where she lives with her husband DJ.
 

Reivers Andrew Mohr
Assistant Athletic Trainer

Andrew Mohr begins his 6th year at Iowa Western Community College as an assistant athletic trainer and adjunct faculty. Andrew is responsible for the evaluation, care, and rehabilitation of IWCC athletes as well as teaching classes within the sports medicine program. He is responsible for overseeing the athletic training budget and ordering supplies. He is a certified CPR/AED instrucotr and also assists with the state of Iowa's coaching authorization classes. 

Andrew graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in 2008 and became certified by the Board of Athletic Training in 2009. Prior to his arrival at IWCC he spent two years as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma. There his primary sport focus was men’s and women’s cross country /track and field. In 2011 Andrew received his master’s degree in applied exercise science from OSU.

Originally from North Platte, Nebraska, Andrew lives in Omaha with his wife Sara.
