SDSU Classic-2017

The Reivers wrapped up the regular season this week at SDSU indoor Classic in Brookings South Dakota. With 7 new national qualifiers for the NJCAA National Track Meet this coming March in North Carolina and 3 new school records

 The field events started off the day at 11 a.m. Joseph Kurtz throwing a PR in the weight throw with a toss of (15.14m) and Micheal Hess with a toss of (14.69m). Standout sophomore Patria Vaimaona throws 12.72 in the shot put to get her in the National Meet in two events. Marcus Klein had a great meet in his first event the long jump he has a PR with a jump of (7.00m) to take 3rd overall. Salome` Brugier takes 3rd overall with a jump of (3.50m)

The running events started at 9:30 a.m. with several other Reivers qualifying for indoor national meet. The women’s DMR Ariat Olok Lisa Blackwood, Taylor Valentine, Shanieke Watson run a qualifying time for the national meet. Freshman Olivia Russo runs a PR in the 5k with a time of 19:07.58 which also gets her into Nationals, .Ariat Olok also qualifies in her individual event 1000m with a time of 3:11.57.Marcus came back after the long jump to run the 400m earned a PR and a trip to the national track meet with a time of 49.33. Freshman Vincent Gordon wins the 200m with a PR and a time of 21.49. The Reivers also have the 2nd 3rd 4th fastest times in the 60m Tremayne Flagler 6.82 Shaheed Hickman 6.85 Vincent Gordon 6.86. Tremayne Flagler was on a mission this weekend with 3 events the final one the 60H which he saved his best effort for last with an overall win PR and new school record of 7.94 to finish off his excellent indoor season. Not to be out done by her teammate sophomore transfer Saqukine Cameron had a day to remember starting with a new school record in the 200m with a time of 24.43 breaking her own record from last week, then she comes back for the 60m and takes another school record with a time of 7.64 in the prelims but she was not done in the finals she ran a time of 7.57 to break the school record twice in the same meet. Finishing of an outstanding indoor season the Reivers gear up for the post season with the Region XI Championships next week at Buena Vista in Storm Lake Iowa.
