Head Coach

Adam Sanchez is entering his second season as head coach for the Women’s Soccer Program.

In his first season with the Reivers, Coach Sanchez guided the team to a nation's best 15 match regular season unbeaten streak, which took them to #3 on the NJCAA National Poll. The program captured its 10th straight ICCAC Championship and 11th overall. The team also excelled in the classroom earning NJCAA Academic All-American Team honors

While at CSM, Coach Sanchez became the winningest coach in program history as well as guiding the program to its first post season championships in the program's 18 year history. In 2013, the Hawks earned their first trip to the NJCAA National Tournament by winning the 2013 District K Championship in dramatic fashion, scoring the golden goal with less than a minute to play in 2OT. The program reached its third consecutive Region XX Championship Match in 2014 narrowly losing 2-1 in the final. Sanchez has mentored 3 NJCAA All-Americans and 6 NJCAA Academic All-Americans. Coach Sanchez earned Maryland Junior College Conference Coach of the Year Honors in 2012 and 2013. He was also named NSCAA North Region Coach of the Year and finalist for NSCAA National Coach of the Year in 2013. 

In addition to his coaching duties at CSM, Sanchez was also the Director of Coaching for the Waldorf Soccer Club (2014-2015) in which he oversaw player development for all competitive and recreational youth teams. He also developed the youth academy curriculum for ages 5 to 12. 

Coach Sanchez started his coaching career with Utah County Strikers Soccer Club, currently Utah FC (2002-2008) in Provo, UT. He served as head coach for various age groups for both boys and girls. While with the club, he also served as referee assignor and led goalkeeper training sessions. Sanchez also coached the boys and girls soccer programs at Timpview High School, helping earn multiple regional titles and state tournament appearances. 

Coach Sanchez graduated from Utah Valley University with a B.A. in Spanish. He currently holds his USSF National B License, NSCAA Director of Coaching License, and NSCAA Level III Goalkeeping Diploma. Sanchez and his wife reside in Council Bluffs with their 4 children.

Assistant Coach

Coach Marissa Ringblom begins her first season as the Reivers Women's Soccer Assistant Coach.

Ringblom played 4 years at NCAA DII University of Nebraska at Kearney as the program’s starting goalkeeper, earning 67 starts and playing 5,753 minutes between the posts, and serving as team captain under current Head Coach John Maessner. She graduated UNK with a B.S. degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Management.  While a student at the university, Ringblom served on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, worked youth soccer camps, and trained youth goalkeepers. She is currently a certified personal trainer through the National Council for Certified Personal Trainers (NCCPT), most recently working in the Kansas City, MO area.

Prior to college, Coach Ringblom lettered 12 times at Fremont High School in Nebraska, featuring for the softball, basketball, and soccer varsity programs all 4 years. She earned Fremont High School Athlete of the Year in 2009. She also played extensive elite travel softball throughout high school.

Recently married in September, Coach Ringblom resides in Omaha with her husband, Eric. Ringblom looks forward to furthering her coaching career and upholding the prestigious tradition of the Reiver Women's Soccer Program. She holds her NSCAA National Diploma and also coaches for Elkhorn Soccer Club.

Reivers Owen Spence

Assistant Coach

Owen Spence enters his 7th year as an assistant coach for Iowa Western women's soccer program. Owen is no stranger to IWCC or the athletic department as he is a former student, cheerleader and cheer coach. Owen has coached both U14 and U19 boy’s soccer within the Bellevue Soccer Club (2007). He has also coached at the high school level with Bellevue West High School (2008), Central High School (2011), and currently with Concordia Lutheran High School and Gretna Soccer Club. Owen holds his NSCAA Goalkeeping II Diploma and USSF D Coaching License. Owen's various coaching experience will be a valuable addition to the program, as the Reivers look forward to another promising season with an exciting lineup this year.

Volunteer Assistant Coach

Coach Brandi Johnson begins her second season on the Iowa Western Coaching Staff. She is very familiar with the women’s soccer program having recently completed her playing career with the Reivers. During her time on the field, Johnson won the 2013 NJCAA National Championship and returned to the championship match a year later in 2014. Her teams boasted a 41-3-2 from 2013-2014, the best winning percentage in school history over a two-year span. Prior to Iowa Western, she was a four year letter winner at Lewis Central High School in Council Bluffs, IA. She also played for Toro and Omaha FC soccer clubs. Coach Johnson is currently enrolled in Iowa Western’s prestigious nursing program.

Volunteer Assistant Coach

Shelby Schlautman is returning for her fifth season with Iowa Western Women’s Soccer team. She was a four year letter winner at Scotus Central Catholic in Columbus, NE. She played for Columbus Soccer Club on the Rampage and Invaders before playing two seasons at Iowa Western, qualifying for 2010 National Tournament. She works as a nurse and coaches high school soccer in the Spring at Omaha Skutt Catholic, recently helping the team capture a Nebraska High School State Title.  She enjoys playing pick-up and indoor leagues as well as spending time with her husband and friends.
