Women's Basketball Adds Cunningham to 2014-15 Signing Class

Head women's basketball coach Jim Turgeon has announced the most recent addition to Iowa Western CC's 2014 class with the signing of Katie Cunningham.

"We are very excited and feel very fortunate that Katie had chosen to join our basketball program," commented Coach Turgeon. "Katie is a highly decorated player that can play multiple positions. Her versatility and size make her a great fit for our system."

Cunningham, a 5-11 guard/forward, played for Coach Josh Ulitzky at Grand View High School; leading the team to  four Centennial League Championships, one Great 8 appearance, and back to back Final Four appearances. Overall, Katie has 86 career wins which is the most in school history and is the career leader in steals and assists.

As a senior, Cunningham averaged 8.4 points per game, 7.5 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 3.4 steals per game. She was selected to play in "The Show" which is an all-star game for the top 20 players in the state and she was selected to play in the Colorado Coaches of Girl Sport's All-State Game.

"With this class, our team gets bigger and more athletic while maintaining the high level of ball handling and shooting skills that has allowed for our offense to be highly ranked in the nation," added Turgeon. "We're excited about the upcoming season for the program and Katie, along with our returners and the other newcomers."
