2017Reiver Open/ April Fools Meet


The Reivers held their first home meet of the season today. The day was filled with cold temperatures, wind, and even hail but that didn’t keep the Reivers from breaking a school record and 5 national qualifiers

The two day meet started with the men’s decathlon and women’s heptathlon. Marcus Klein took 2nd place with a score of 5888 and Kellyann James won the women’s heptathlon with a score of 4436 which is good for the number 2 spot on the NJCAA leaderboard. Reiver new comer Zarin Goodrich wins the Javelin with a throw of (38.48m) and put her in the 5th spot for the National Rankings. Monique Apuakehau wins the women’s pole vault with a jump of (3.20m). Patria Vaimaona had a good day with 2nd in the Hammer with a throw of (50.78m) and 2nd in the discus with a throw of (44.74m) and 3rd in the Shot Put with a throw of (11.55m). Blayre Fernander wins the Men’s High Jump with a leap of (2.05m) which puts him in a tie for 3rd place on the NJCAA leaderboard. Kelsey Hurley wins the Women’s high jump with a leap of 1.70m which breaks the outdoor school record and puts her in a tie for 3rd place on the Leaderboard

The 4x100m Relay started the second days running events the Reiver Men had 2 teams to run fast enough to qualify for the national meet. The lady Reivers also blazed the track and qualified for the national meet. Shanieke Watson wins the women’s 1500m with a time of 4:49.41 clinching her spot to the national track meet.  The day ended with the Men’s 4x400m relay sweeping the event.

The Reivers will be in action next weekend at Friends University in Wichita, KS
