2017 NJCAA National Outdoor Track Meet

The Iowa Western Community College track and field teams traveled to Hutchinson, Kansas for the NJCAA Division I Outdoor Championships. The men and women finished 11th and 7th respectively out of 32 teams during the three day meet.

The Reiver Dec. and Hept athletes started the meet off with Freshman Marcus Klein being NJCAA and UASTF All- American 6th place with a score of (6210). The Female Reiver female Lisa Blackwood placed 5th with a score of (4378) and become a USATF All-American.

The sprinters added their own All-Americans Saqukine Cameron in the 100m and 200m with a time of (11.78) (24.24) and Chyna Watson-Reid also in the 100m and 200m with a time of (11.83) (24.70). Shanieke Watson took 3rd and the 1500m and 2nd in the 3k Steeple with a time of (4:46.86) and (11:01.13) The Women’s 4x400m (Sharon Mainor, Lisa Blackwood, Chyna Watson-Reid, Saqukine Cameron) relay placed 6th with a time of (3:50.93) breaking the school record set last year at the national meet. The Men’s 4x100m relay (Tremayne Flagler, Vincent Gordon, Kyle Farrell, Shaheed Hickman) placed 7th with a time of (39.97)  Tremayne Flager takes 3rd in the 110H with a time of (14.01)Renardon Wilson places 7th in the 400m with a time of (47.63) Bill Oyet takes 5th in the 1500m with a time of (4:05.90).The Men’s 4x800 takes 7th place Herick Walters, Chaz Berry, Lynn Sermons, Dennis Kibowen with a time of (8:01.47)

The jumpers add 4 more USATF and NJCAA All-American with freshman David Ejumenta with a jump of 7.35m good for 4th place in the long jump and a jump for 14.98 good for 2nd place in the triple jump. Kelsey Hurley took 8th in the High Jump with (1.63m) Sophomore Monique Apuakehau capped off here Reiver career with a PR and a 2nd place finish in the women’s pole vault.

The Reiver Throwers had some good performances lead by sophomore stand out Patria Vaimaona placing 3rd in the Hammer throw(50.15) Joe Kurtz and Andy Miesbach both set PR (46.56) (45.36). Freshman Zarin Goodrich took 7th in the Javelin with a throw of 38.27 After a great year the Reivers are looking to this off season to reload the team and add a few missing pieces.

The Reivers had 22 NJCAA All-Americans and 22 USATF All-Americans at the National Meet
