Zeb Wahle

ACCOMPLISHMENTS
2016-17: Zeb finished with an outstanding season and an outstanding career. He finished the season with a 30-5 overall record and a 13-0 dual record at 184lbs. He didn’t compete in the first three tournaments of the season because he was recovering from an injury. He then won the Doane Open with a 5-0 record and was selected GLVC Wrestler of the Week, was fifth at the Midwest Classic, third at the NCAA Super Regional and third at the NCAA Division II National Championship. He is a GLVC first Team All-Conference selection finishing 6-0 in GLVC duals. He is a two time Super Regional Champion. He is a three time NCAA All American finishing sixth, second and third. He was a four time National Qualifier. He finished his career sixth on Maryville’s All-Time Top Ten Win List with 111 wins and second on the All-Time Top Ten Single Season List with a 37 win season during the 2013-14 season. He had a 38-6 dual meet record during his career. He was a four time NWCA All-Academic First Team selection for his performance on the mat and in the classroom. He was selected Maryville Male Athlete of the Year after the 2014-15 season. He received the team’s Outstanding Senior Award, 30 Match Winner Award, Iron Discipline Award, Ryan Kaufman Award, Dr. Mark Lombardi Saint Award, Most Outstanding Wrestler Award and Maryville Saint Award. Zeb will graduate with a degree in Liberal Studies in May.

2015-16: Was off to a great start and another great season before a nagging injury slowed him and took him out of competition for part of the season. He won the Kaufman/Brand and was selected the Outstanding Wrestler. He finished Second in the Lindenwood Open. He also finished Second in the Midwest Classic to help the team win its second consecutive Midwest Classic. He did not compete for five weeks in an attempt to heal and rehab a nagging injury. His first tournament back he went 4-0 in the Super Regional Championship and won his second Regional Championship. His performance helped the team win its second consecutive Regional Team Championship and qualified him for his third National Tournament. Slowed by his injury he did not place in the National Tournament. He was selected to his third First Team NWCA All-Academic Team. He finished the season with an 18-5 record and a 2-1 dual meet record. Earned the team’s Wrestler of the Week six times and the OOOSSS award six times.

2014-15: Had a fabulous campaign finishing 26-7 and earning his second All American honor with his National runner-up finish. Lost a hard fought 4-1 decision to Notre
Dame’s Joey Davis in the finals. Went 10-2 in duals. Was the Super Regional Champ. Won the William Penn Open. Placed third at University of Central Missouri and sixth at Lindenwood. Had seven falls and five major decisions during the season. Named first team Academic All American for second time. Has 3.26 GPA in liberal studies. Named Maryville Wrestler of the Week nine times during the season. Earned teams OOOSSS Award five times thought the season.

2013-14: Had an outstanding year as a redshirt freshman, on the mat, in the class room and as one of the top leaders on the team, gets the most out of himself every match and every practice, wrestled a tremendous National Tournament becoming an All-American finishing 6th, finished with a 37-11 record, 9-2 in duals, 2nd at the UCM Open, 2nd at the Kaufman/Brand, 3rd at the Midwest Classic, 1st at the Wm. Penn going 4-0 , 3-0 at the National Duals, 1st at the Missouri Valley Invitational going 4-0, 3rd at the Super Region II Tournament qualifying for the National Tournament, selected Wrestler of the Week 12 times, OOOSSS Award Winner 11 times, selected Most Improved, Outstanding Freshman, had the Most Major Decisions (8), 30 Match Award Winner with 37 wins, the most on the team, selected to the NWCA Academic All-American 1st team, received the Iron Man Award, selected as one of the Outstanding Wrestlers on the team.

2012-13: Put together a 24-6 overall record competing exclusively in open tournaments, 5 of his victories came by fall and 2 by technical falls. Won the William Penn Opening going 4-0 and the Missouri Valley Open also going 4-0. Placed 3rd at both Central Missouri and Denker Opens. Finished 7th at Kaufman-Brand Open. Maryville Wrestler of the Week 5 times OOOSSS Award Winner for his performance at William Penn Open. One of the team’s Outstanding Redshirts Award. Tied for teams Most Technical Falls with 2 20-Match Award Winner with 24 wins. Received Maryville’s Dr. Mark Lombardi Saint Award.

High School: Zeb is a 2X Iowa State Place finisher winning an Iowa State Championship as a senior. Zeb is also a 2X Pre-Season Nationals All-American.
