Carter Lake Cheerleaders Join Iowa Western Cheer for Homecoming Game
The Carter Lake Cheerleading team joined forces with the Iowa Western Community College cheer squad for this year's highly anticipated Homecoming game. The Carter Lake cheerleaders had the opportunity to perform alongside the Reiver Cheerleaders, gaining firsthand experience in front of a large crowd during one of the most spirited games of the season.
For many of the younger cheerleaders, this was a first glimpse into the collegiate cheerleading world. They were able to stunt with our athletes for both the 2nd and 3rd quarter of the game. At halftime they were able sit on the edge of the turf to see the Reivers perform their halftime performance.
"We love partnering with the cheerleaders at Iowa western" said Carter Lake head coach Reese Putnam. "They are such amazing role models and definitely set an example for the littles. The cheerleaders engage with the youth so well making it a memory they will never forget!"
We asked Reiver athlete Andrew Gassmann what it means to him to give back to our community, and here is what he has to say. "Although it is still new, there is something so exciting about working with kids and helping shape their future. Teaching them discipline, kindness, and confidence from a young age goes so far. It is rewarding to share everything that I have learned over the years and to give back to the community through cheer."
With smiles, pom-poms, and plenty of team spirit, the Carter Lake and Iowa Western cheerleaders proved that when communities come together, great things happen
