DOYLE NAMED ASSISTANT MEN'S BASKETBALL COACH

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa - Head Men's Basketball Coach Chad Van Riessen announced the hiring today of Shane Doyle as the latest member of the Reivers' coaching staff.

Coach Doyle comes to Council Bluffs from Staten Island, NY where he has served as the Wagner College Men's Basketball Director of Basketball Operations since July of 2018.

Coach Van Riessen is excited to add Shane to his staff. "Shane brings great enthusiasm, passion, and great knowledge to Iowa Western", said Van Riessen, "His experience at the NCAA Division I level will allow him to have an immediate impact on our program and players. I'm excited to have Shane join the Reiver family."

In 2020-21, Doyle was part of a staff that led a Seahawks squad to a regular-season championship in the Northeast Conference. Along with a regular-season championship, the Seahawks posted a school-record 10 game winning streak.

Doyle along with handling the daily operations of the program earned a Master of Arts degree in Higher Education and Learning Organizations Leadership (HELO). Along with the daily operations, Doyle was in charge of all video operations. He also oversaw the team's managers, assisted with the camps, and aided the rest of the coaching staff in the day-to-day operations of the program. An Abington, Massachusetts native, he joined the program after being an assistant coach at Putnam Science Academy in Putnam, Connecticut for two years.

While at Putnam Science Academy, Doyle served as an assistant coach on the 2018 team that earned a 38-4 record en route to the Prep School National Championship. Before joining the Mustangs, Doyle spent two years as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for Bridgewater State University.

Doyle, a graduate of Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT was a manager for the men's basketball team while he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism.
