Reivers Take Down Raiders
COUNCIL BLUFFS - The Iowa Western Reivers delivered a strong performance Saturday night inside Reiver Arena, defeating Central Community College–Columbus 91–75. Iowa Western controlled the pace early, surged ahead by 28 points with 6:51 remaining in the contest, and held off a late push from the Raiders to secure the home victory.
Leading the scoring effort for Iowa Western was Zayden Best, who finished with 20 points on 6-of-10 shooting, including 4 of 7 from the three-point line. Jordan Dewaele turned in the most complete performance of the night, posting a dominant double-double with 12 points, 13 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals. Judah Vignery finished with 19 points and connected on 5 of 10 from the 3-point line. JP Sumo also had a nice evening with 17 points and 4 assists.
Iowa Western shot 48.4% from the field and used a late first-half surge to build a commanding 51–34 halftime lead. The Reivers won the rebounding battle 35–30, scored 34 points in the paint, and generated 7 points off Central's 10 turnovers.
The victory improves Iowa Western to 15–1 overall and 6–1 in ICCAC play. Iowa Western returns to action later this week as they travel to Sioux City to take on Western Iowa Tech on Saturday afternoon.
