Iowa Western Dominates at Marshalltown
MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa - 15th-ranked Iowa Western Reivers traveled to Marshalltown, IA on Wednesday for a matchup against the Marshalltown Tigers. The Reivers wasted no time as they quickly jumped out to a 20-0 lead to start the contest. The Tigers would not score their first basket of the game until nearly 8 minutes into the contest, and Iowa Western took a commanding 43-20 lead into the halftime break.
In the second half, the Tigers came out with more energy, but the Reivers stayed in control, shooting 55% from the floor for the game and holding off any comeback by Marshalltown. Iowa Western finished off the Tigers by a score of 80-58.
It was a balanced scoring effort for Iowa Western as all 5 starters reached double figures in scoring. Judah Vignery led the way with 15 points. Kris Brown provided an early spark offensively for the Reivers, and he finished with 14 points on 5 of 8 from the floor while grabbing 8 rebounds. Jordan Dewaele had his second straight double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. JP Sumo also scored 13 points, and Nate Parras finished with 12 points.
With the win, the Reivers improved to 18-4 overall on the season. Iowa Western will return to action on Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. vs. the Western Iowa Tech Comets inside Reiver Arena.
