Fall 2021 Season Overview
The Iowa Western Men's Soccer captured this years 2021 NJCAA Div I National Championship! They knocked off the Arizona Western Matadors by a score line of 2-0. Both teams came in as At Large selections coming into the tournament. Giorgio Probo opened the scoring in the 13th minute to make it 1-0 for the Reivers and that's how the half would end. Going into the second half it was a tense game in the midfield with not many shots coming into the game, but then in the 77th minute Ibrahim Conde was able to make it 2-0 off an assist from Edoardo Deglinnocenti and close the game out for the programs second national championship in program history.
Giorgio Probo was named MVP of the tournament, Ibrahim Conde was named Offensive Player of the Tournament, Mike Brown was named the Coach of the Tournament. Yuta Ishizuka joined Conde on the All Tournament Team.
In Pool Play the Reivers faced off against Coffeyville and Laramie CC in which they won both games 6-2 and 1-0 respectively. In the Final Four they faced off against the host Tyler JC and with a packed crowd and won the game 1-0.
Overall the Reivers finished with a 20-1-1 scoring 83 goals and only allowing 7 goals all year to have a 0.36 GAA. Yuta Ishizuka had 16 clean sheets on the year, wih Ibrahim Conde leading the team in scoring with 14 goals on the year with Junior Casillas right behind him with 10 goals and Maruki Kawahara with 8 goals. Conde lead the team in assist with 10 and Giorgio Probo with 6.
Now the Reivers will be looking to re-load and get ready in the Spring for next season. Thank you all for your support this season!
