Rapids Transfer Former Reiver Moïse Bombito for Record Fee
DENVER - The Colorado Rapids have agreed to transfer former Iowa Western Men's Soccer Defender Moïse Bombito to Ligue 1's OGC Nice in France for an MLS center back-record $7.7 million.
The Canadian National played for Head Coach Mike Brown and the Reivers for two seasons, helping Iowa Western to a national runner-up finish in the Spring of 2021 and the program's second NJCAA National Championship six months later. Bombito then transferred to New Hampshire University in 2022 where he started all 16 games for the Wildcats and was a MAC Hermann Trophy semi-finalist.
"We as the Reiver family are extremely proud of Moïse," said Iowa Western Men's Soccer Head Coach, Mike Brown. "Everything he has done to this point is a testament to his commitment, resilience, and determination."
"For me personally," Brown added, "I am very proud and grateful to have had the opportunity to coach a young man of Moïse's character. We are excited to watch him on a bigger stage as he continues his rise in his young career!"
A 1st Team NJCAA All-American, Bombito became the highest MLS SuperDraft pick from the NJCAA, being selected third overall in 2023 by the Colorado Rapids. He most recently played for Team Canada in the 2024 Copa América where he started every match and scored a pair of penalty kicks en route to a fourth-place finish.
