Bio
Roberto Carlos Hernandez begins his first season as an Assistant Coach at Iowa Western for the 2025-26 season.
Prior to Iowa Western, Coach Hernandez coached at Upper Iowa University, an NCAA Division II school. While at Upper Iowa, he also coached club soccer at FC United in Cedar Rapids.
Coach Hernandez has experience coaching in summer leagues as well. He started with the Twin City Toucans in USL 2 and this coming summer, he will be coaching with the Lubbock Matadors in Lubbock, Texas.
As a player, Coach Hernandez began his collegiate career at Barton Community College, where he played under current Reiver Head Coach Mike Brown and followed him to IWCC for his sophomore season. He then transferred to NCAA Division I University of Texas Rio Grande Valley before finishing his playing career at the NCAA Division II University of Mount Olive.
A Texas native, Hernandez grew up playing for the Texas Rush Academy and the Houston Dynamo Academy. He also represented the United States Youth National Team.
