Council Bluffs, IA – Iowa Western swept the week with a perfect 6-0 record, including four conference wins over Marshalltown and Southeastern. IWCC also knocked off Nebraska Wesleyan University in non-conference action.
The Reivers swept Marshalltown 6-1 and 13-5 in five innings on Saturday. Then on Tuesday they were able to push their conference win streak to five straight by defeating Southeastern CC twice, 4-1 and 10-2 in five innings. Finally, on Thursday, Iowa Western beat NWU 1-0 in consecutive games. The second game taking nine innings to finish the sweep. Brieanna Brock fired a no-hitter in the first game against NWU. Brock had this to say after her no-hit performance, "My defense is the reason for the success I had in yesterday's games. They worked their butts off for me every play." Zoe Hicks and Michaela Epp combined for a shut out win in the nightcap. Tyla Lee tripled to start the ninth inning and would later plate on a past-ball which proved to be the difference.
#17 Iowa Western has won 20 of their last 21 games and is now 36-6 on the season, including 5-1 in conference play. The Reivers will be back in action at home Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
