Reivers top the Blue Devils
Kansas City, KS – The Reivers traveled south to compete against the number five ranked Kansas City Kansas Community College. The Blue Devils were undefeated heading in to this game, sitting at a perfect 7-0 for the season. The Reivers, now having the full strength of their roster after having to deal with COVID-19 protocols, proved to be better team despite being ranked 15th in the nation.
The Blue Devils led at the end of the first quarter 16-15. Second quarter however, would belong to the Reivers who outscored the Blue Devils 24-15. The remainder of the game would practically belong to the Reivers. The Blue Devils would not go quietly and were able to bring the game to within three points in the third quarter; the Reivers' domination in the paint during fourth quarter would however, seal the deal. The Reivers outscored the Blue Devils 30-24 in the fourth quarter. The Reivers also dominated on the boards outrebounding the Blue Devils 47-33.
The fifth ranked Blue Devils were not able to handle the depth of the Iowa Western Reivers who were coming off of a road win against Southeast Community College. The Reivers logged four players in double digits. Ndidiamaka Ndukwe led the Reivers with 20 points and eight rebounds. Michell Butler recorded another double-double, scoring 15 points and snagging 12 rebounds. Courtney Fields and Mary Delgado added 11 points and 10 points respectively.
The Reivers are now 2-2 for the season and will play again in the Microtel Thanksgiving Classic. The Reivers will play against Div. I eighth-ranked New Mexico Junior College on November 26th at 7:00 PM in the Reiver Arena.
