Women Open the Spring Season With a 2nd Place Finish
The Reiver women opened their spring season in Fulton, Missouri this past week playing in a NAIA tournament. The tournament was shorted to one day-1 round, due to thunderstorms on Day 2.
The women opened in round 1 with a team score of 321, which is 14 strokes better than their fall scoring average. Olivia Holyoak-Church passed the team with a score of 77. Followed by Jennifer Cho and Nina Lesbros with 80's. Skylar Benjamin and Kellie Peitzmeir rounded out the scoring with 84 and 87 respectfully.
The women finished in 2nd place behind host school William Wood University by 2 strokes.
"We had a good first round," said Head Coach, Matt Robinson. "I saw a lot of good things. We focused on just playing every stroke rather than worrying about the score. I told them if we focus on each shot and what we worked on in the off season, the score will take care of itself, and it did".
The women will be back in action April 7th and 8th in Lincoln at the Bulldog invite hosted by Concordia University. This event will be a 54-hole event played over 2 days.
