Strong Start for Reivers In Season Opener

Crete, NE- The Iowa Western Track & Field team's opened up their season in Crete, Ne for the Ward Haylett Invite. The women's team finished with six top 3 performances including national qualifying marks from Patricia Johnson, Faith Chepengat, and Sierra Coward.


The men's team finished with eight top-3 performances with the highlight of the day coming in the 60m dash where they swept the competition finishing in the top 4 spots. The men had qualifying performance's from returning All-American Johnie Jean-Jacques and the 4x400m relay team (DeAirus Clerveaux, Justen O'Brien, LeeAaron Berks, Shamar Deacon)



  • Patricia Johnson finished 1st in the 60m dash (7.79)* and the Long Jump (5.79m).
  • Faith Chepengat finished 1st in the 1000m (3:06.78)* and the Mile (5:15.25)*
  • Sierra Coward finished 2nd in the women's long jump (5.41m)*
  • Accacia Hinds won the women's 400m with a time of (1:01.61)
  • Aliyah George finished 2nd in the 600m (1:44.23)
  • Shania Parkinson finished 7th in the Shot Put (11.93m)

  • Men's 4x400m relay finished 1st with a time of (3:19.95)*
  • Nastario Williams won the 60m dash with a time of 6.89
  • Maurice Thompson finished 2nd in the 60m (6.92)
  • Aarron Westmoreland finished 1st in the 200m (22.34) and 3rd in the 60m (6.93) 
  • Malachi Carroll finished 4th in the 60m (6.94) and 3rd in the 200m (22.92)
  • Ethan Brenneman finished 3rd in the 600m (1:25.34)
  • Shamar Deacon won the 1000m with a time of (2:37.94)
  • Sam Hydro finished 2nd in the 1000m (2:38.38)
  • Shawn Kiptoo won the Mile with a time of (4:31.48)
  • Gavin Klein finished second in the mile (4:38.95)
  • Tyler Pouncy finished 2nd in long jump (6.97m)
