Ossie Tchiengue breaks meet record, Reivers win 4 events
TOPEKA, Kan. - Yman Ossie Tchiengue had a stellar performance in the high jump at the Washburn Ichabod Invitational with a 1.83m jump to win the competition. Ossie Tchiengue's mark is the 3rd best performance in NJCAA history, 2nd in school history, and extends her national lead. Rasheeda Samuels posted a season best with a national qualifier of 1.66m to move to 4th in the nation on the season.
Ali Benzem ran a new school record in the 800m in 1:48.97. His time moves him to 7th in NJCAA history and 5th in the nation. Landon Hartley hit the national qualifier in the 800m with a personal best of 1:55.49 to finish in 20th place.
Reivers swept the triple jump. Lebon Attoungbre broke the meet record in the triple jump with 15.45m to finish 1st. Kahdijah Bailey set a personal best to win with a 12.24m to move to 2nd in the nation and 3rd in school history. Taeja Bartee hit a personal best with 11.64m and 5.71m in the long jump to finish 8th.
Absa Ba placed 8th in the long jump with a 5.76m jump to move to 8th in the nation this season.
Julien Evering finished in 3rd place in the men's 60m with a 6.91. Mary Laha ran a 7.69 to finish 5th, and Lyric Butcher ran a personal best and a national qualifying mark of 7.74 to finish 6th.
In the prelims of the women's hurdles, Maya Bergstroom Weekes ran a collegiate season's best of 8.73 to move to 9th in the nation. She came back to finish 2nd in the finals.
Arthur Leandro de Sousa finished 2nd in the shot put with 17.44m.
Elizabeth Ewusie won the 5000m in a personal best of 17:15.17 to move to 4th in the nation and 4th in school history. Her mark is also 15th on the NJCAA all-time list.
Mohamed Boutaguia placed 3rd in the 3000m with an 8:17.81 to move to 7th in the nation and 6th in school history.
The Women's 4x4 Relay of Grace Nwaeme, Mary Laha, Antonella Lanuza, and Shantay Augustine hit the national qualifying time running 3:52.90 to finish 4th and move to 12th in the nation to close out the meet.
The Reivers will turn the focus towards the Region 11 Championships hosted at Buena Vista University February 20-21.
